Product Description

Channel Vacuum sealers require an embossed or ribbed vacuum bag to be able to pull a vacuum over the product prior to sealing.

As the Banquet bags have a smooth interior a channel vacuum will not work without some intervention. We sell and recommend a nozzle/snorkel type vacuum sealer that can be used on any type of plastic food grade bag.

We have developed an all Australian solution (similar to the UMAI VacMouse) to allow most vacuum sealers like Hills, Food Saver or Luvelo to be used effectively with our Banquet Bags.

We have discovered that there are more types of vacuum sealers in the hands of our customers than we have the ability to test with the Banquet Bags. Some machines have limited ability to heat at the required temp for our standard supply of Channel helper. For this reason we are now supplying a large full piece of Channel Helper in a single sheet that should last for many uses. This will enable people who have a colder sealing temperature in there machine than a machine that has the ability to lengthen the sealing time or has a moist setting.

When you receive the Channel helper you will need to cut a strip of the material and then test it doubled over ie: two layers, the finished folded strip should be approx 5cm wide by 15cm long, depending on what size bag you are using. This may work better with your machine from a sealing capacity but may not work as well when vacuuming. If two layers will not allow the air to draw out try three etc etc up to four layers.

Please make sure you read our current instructions that advise using the corner method as it is more effective with the channel helper. Put your meat in the bag, seal all sides and cut a corner off about 6cm opening. Place the channel helper inside this opening running along the side of the bag. Allow a good qty of the helper to extend out of the opening and into your vacuum sealer. Always do a double seal after the first one if you have any doubts. Read the instructions for pictures and more detail.

TIP: NEVER leave your vacuum sealer in the locked/closed down position when not in use as this will compress the foam padding around the vacuum channel and can reduce the effectiveness of your vacuum sealer. If you suspect that this might be a problem with your sealer you may need to apply extra pressure when removing the air from any bag.

CHANNEL HELPER IS NOT REQUIRED FOR SEALING SALAMI CASINGS, WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU TWIST AND TIE WITH BUTCHERS TWINE OR OUR SALAMI TIES WITH RINGS FOR HANGING.

Simply slide a piece of the Channel Helper into the opening of the Banquet bag and ensure that it, along with the bag, is well into the channel of the vacuum sealer, you can even have the helper extend out of the bag and over the small nozzle (only on some models), pull the bar of the vacuum sealer down over the bag and commence the vacuum. If you have control over how long your sealer operates allow it to pull out as much air as possible before you apply the seal. If your machine only produces a narrow seal you may want to create a second one next to the first one. You may find if your machine does not produce enough heat to melt the multiple layers of the channel helper that you might need to reduce from 3-4 layers down to 2 or 3. You will need to test this with your particular machine.
